Well it was a fun weekend getting creative with my small harvest of ground cherries. I planted them this spring and over the summer they have been falling to the ground for me to collect. Before making jam, I wanted to make a Saturday night dessert. Why not try making some cute little ground cherries dipped in chocolate…
Peeling back the husk and dipping ground cherries in dark chocolate is the most adorable little dessert ever!
Then today it was time to make jam. I got this recipe from Uncle Ghislain’s cookbook, Farmers in Chef Hats. Getting the ground cherries all out of the husk is the most time consuming part of this recipe but easily done while watching Food Network.
After boiling the cherries down with sugar and lemon juice we now have jam for the winter. Yum.
Ground Cherry Jam down, pickling starts next weekend. Fall has arrived and I am excited to turn the farmers market veggies into canning. This is going to be a busy fall and I hope to keep up with posting to my blog but in the mean time please check out my food, photography and favorite things on Instagram under ReneesFavoriteDishes.
