Mother's Day Mimosa

Happy Mother’s Day

I would like to wish all the moms a very Happy Mother’s Day. It is raining again here on the NH Seacoast but Mom and I got out for some shopping and lunch. We enjoyed a few crab cakes and Mother’s Day Mimosas at the Atlantic Grill in Rye. Perfect.

Mothers Day MimosasThen we took a trip to Churchills Nursery for some flower shopping. It was too cold and raining to walk around outside but we enjoyed the inside and I met a new friend in one of the pots. Cutest chipmunk ever!

We have had some fun with cooking over the past couple of weeks. Meg has a favorite dessert recipe called Oreo Balls. You can find the easy recipe online and on Pintrest. Steve used my vintage double boiler and made a batch for the people at work. They were positively delicious!

Oreo BallsSince we had Cinco de mayo last week I had a craving for cilantro. I decided to make Skillet Chicken with Creamy Cilantro Lime Sauce. One of my favorite recipes from my friend Sherri. So fresh and tasty.

Skillet ChickenLast weekend Beeb and I did a girls night out and went into Amesbury. I introduced her to one of my favorite new restaurants, Crave is a great little spot in an old train station. We had some dandy wine and shared a Crave Burger and Frites. What a burger it was, grass fed beef from Maine, bacon, Vermont cheddar, pickled red onions and truffle aioli. Yummy. Check out their menu here.

The sun finally came out Friday after a week of rain and it was so funny to see how quickly everything else came out too. Kids on bikes, people mowing and walking dogs, flowers blooming. We worked in the yard until almost dark and it was wonderful. My violets were very happy to see the sun!

VioletsMeg is now home from college and Caemen is home for the weekend. Last night we enjoyed a new cocktail concoction. I love rhubarb this time of year but before making jam and pies, we tried a Rhubarb Gimlet. I made a rhubarb simple syrup and the gimlet was a hit!

Then it was homemade pizzas and some of Caemen’s Birthday IPA’s. Saturday Night Pizza and Beer Night.
