French Toast

It’s the weekend and the weekend calls for French Toast breakfast. We all get up and out of the house quick during the week and it’s nice to relax, have coffee and tea and enjoy a good breakfast on the weekend. This weekend I remembered I had white Canadian bread in the downstairs freezer. This is the taboo bread, we usually do the low carb, whole wheat bread. But sometimes it’s nice to treat yourself and today was the day.

So, french toast it was and you can add what ever you want to a basic french toast recipe. Top it with fruit, maple syrup or Agave. You can’t go wrong. Pour your OJ, sit down and have a leisurely breakfast with the paper.

Happy Weekend!

I am almost out of blueberry sauce, what will I do?

Spring is almost here and it begins again. Digging in the garden, watching things grow and then canning starts again. Blueberry sauce recipe to follow…

French Toast

French Toast

  • 5 eggs beaten
  • 2 Tbsp. cream
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • 6 pieces of bread (something that will stand up to soaking in the egg and cream, a hearty wheat or Canadian white is good)

  1. Beat the eggs and add the cream, pinch of salt and pinch of cinnamon. Heat a skillet with a bit of butter on medium high heat. Place each piece of bread in the batter and flip over to get both sides. Place in skillet and while the first side is cooking, sprinkle with another touch of kosher salt before you flip to cook the other side.
  2. Serve with fruit or your favorite syrup.

    1. Haha, It’s white bread this is thick and called Canadian Bread. It’s funny that I have never questioned that. It’s just what is called Canadian Bread in the States. Do you have American Bread?
